As part of the quarterly community service activities, “Cancer Awareness Session” was conducted for Mandra Community by the Access students (50 girls) Mandra campus. The event aimed to educate residents about the significance of early cancer detection, prevention, and available support.
The session began with an opening address by a student emphasizing the importance of community-wide awareness for overall health. Participants (Women from Mandra Village) received a comprehensive overview of different cancer types, causes, and risk factors to dispel common misconceptions. Lifestyle choices and their impact on preventing certain cancers were highlighted. A significant focus was placed on the importance of regular screenings and recognizing early warning signs. Information learnt by the students from healthcare professionals provided insights into available screening programs and resources to encourage proactive healthcare-seeking.
This interactive session allowed community members to ask questions and share personal experiences, fostering a sense of solidarity.
“Cancer Awareness Session” proved to be a valuable initiative in equipping the Mandra community with essential knowledge about cancer prevention, early detection, and available support systems.
Access students are bringing change in their local communities by involving the members in such kind of awareness activities.
