World Polio Day is celebrated annually on October 24. It is a global observance dedicated to raising awareness about the eradication of polio. In our English Access class, the team organized a special event to mark this occasion, providing students with a platform to learn about the challenges and successes in the global fight against polio.
The primary objective of this session was to educate students about the significance of World Polio Day, the history of the polio eradication initiative, and the current status of polio globally.
The event commenced with presentations outlining the history and impact of polio, emphasizing the importance of continued vaccination efforts. Students actively participated in discussion sessions, exchanging thoughts on the socio-economic impact of polio, the role of global partnerships, and the significance of community engagement. A documentary highlighting real-life stories of polio survivors and the impact of vaccination campaigns was screened, providing a powerful visual context to the discussion. A question-and-answer session allowed students to seek clarification on any aspects of polio, fostering interactive learning.
The session contributed significantly to the educational objectives of the English Access program, promoting both language skills and global citizenship.
